We Helped the Children: $114,000 Raised!

On October 26th, We Bee Spelling partnered with Help for Children (HFC) on the 2016 HFC Fall Feté at Howl at the Moon in Midtown Manhattan.

The room was full, the bar was open and our friends Atomic Funk Project set the tone as only they can. We packed a hilarious line up of Kyle Ayers, Tom Cowell and Brendan Eyre leaving audience members with abdomen pain from the relentless laughing. This team-style We Bee event showcased some of the top talent in the financial analyst and consulting world, all of whom came out to support the amazing work HFC does to combat child abuse. 

This single event broke We Bee records, raising $114,000 for HFC! That money will go on to help fund the top child abuse prevention and treatment interventions all around the world. 

The HFC event helped We Bee come within striking range of another huge milestone -- raising $300,000 for causes -- by the end of 2016! 

We Bee Soulful

You know us for the wacky one-of-a-kind spelling game show called "We Bee Spelling." But that's not all we do. We know how to get funky, too. Sure, we groove at We Bee events with the backing of some killer bands, but that's only part of the party. This time around, the Center for Comprehensive Health Practice wanted to do something different; a little less brain-busting competition and a little more let's see whatcha got on the dance floor! 

We looked for inspiration from everyone's favorite super fly dance show: Soul Train. Inspired, we were. It was time to create an unforgettable dance party. We brought in the funktastic Atomic Funk Project to set the room on fire with throwback tunes. The grooves were thick and the moves were outrageous. But that's not all: we treated guests to a full open bar provided by our friends at Mash + Grape and a delicious meal from the amazing Whealth and Co.

Not only did we enjoy incredible tunes, tasty treats and some really good laughs, we raised over $73,000 on the night for CCHP! Big wins all around. Check out the pictures above for a peak at our first Thursday Night Fever throw-down!

We Bee T-H-A-N-K-F-U-L

It makes us so very proud and grateful to announce that we have raised over $100,000 for philanthropic causes! When we launched this venture just a couple years ago, we would have never imagined we would be here today. A silly idea -- an adult spelling bee -- rapidly transformed into a mission: to change the way we think about and interact with philanthropic giving.

We knew so many people, especially young people, wanted to give back to their community, but didn't have the time to dedicate or the funds to spend on gala events.  So we decided to create an event experience that was affordable for everyone and more closely resembled what we want to spend our disposable income doing: having fun, playing games, going to concerts, checking out comedy shows. We wrapped this up in a bundle and created We Bee Spelling.

But we only built the car; all of our tremendous supporters drove it. You helped us to turn lighthearted entertainment into a lasting impact for thousands of people being supported by incredible causes. We are humbled to have partnered with organizations doing life-changing work like Blue Engine, iMentor, Center for Comprehensive Health Practice, Change for Kids, Preparing Leaders of Tomorrow, and Education Through Music. Thank you for believing in us and working together to make special things happen.

This is just the first of many major milestones we look forward to achieving. Together, we look forward to making fundraising events and charitable giving accessible, inclusive and a heckuva lot more fun for everyone.

CCHP Electrified The Bowery!

The Center for Comprehensive Health Practice put the electricity in the Bowery Electric on Thursday night April 7th. In its second annual We Bee Spelling, CCHP raised over $22,000 for the pediatric healthcare division, providing support for hundreds of families.

The amazing night saw contestants show off not just their brain power, but their singing, dancing and juggling(!) skills on the stage. Atomic Funk Project had the house rocking and comedians Tom Cowell and Julian Kiani kept the near sell out crowd rolling with laughter.
